Thomas is the CEO and one of the founding partners of 4th-IR. A serial entrepreneur in the finance and healthcare sectors, he is also Chairman of the Board of Trestle Group Ventures, a multinational holding company that empowers innovators to create the future of their industries. During his 20+ year career in banking, he was the Global CFO for Treasury at UBS and managed various operational accounting and finance roles as an agent of change in New York, London and Zurich.
Thomas is also the co-founder of the ICO Factory, based in Zug Switzerland, focuses on implementing blockchain technologies in both finance and healthcare. Thomas received his EMBA from London Business School and Columbia, holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant in New York.
Chief Financial Officer
Bernhard is the COO and one of the founding partners of 4th-IR. He started his career working in the automotive industry and has since gained over 20 years of global experience in strategy, change management and technology consulting. In 2003, Bernhard co-founded Trestle Group, a multinational holding company specializing in the financial services sector, and has since developed unique consulting methodologies that ensure high-quality results for its customers and high growth for the company. An experienced entrepreneur and investor, Bernhard has recently ventured into blockchain technology and is a thought leader in building synergies between finance and healthcare.
Bernhard received his EMBA from London Business School and holds a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Erlangen, Germany.
Chief Operating Officer
Beth is the COO of 4th-IR, leading business operations and partnerships. With over 20+ years of experience in business intelligence, marketing, product development and intellectual property, Beth has built her career on connecting good ideas with great people. She has held various leadership roles in for-profit and non-profit organizations with both micro and global footprints. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Studies from Iowa State University, a Master of Arts in International Affairs and Government from the University of South Carolina and a Master of Science in Healthcare Innovation from Arizona State University.
Head of R&D
Jon Kaufman oversees the creation and implementation of leading-edge artificial intelligence algorithms for application in healthcare, with an emphasis on deep learning and data science. Jon is passionate about deep learning, machine learning, and data science, and has a strong interest in cryptography and Blockchain technologies.
Jon has spent several summers at the geographic South Pole, building, testing, and decommissioning the BICEP2 telescope, for which he was awarded the Antarctica Service Medal from the National Science Foundation. He has been published in leading journals and was awarded the Buchalter Cosmology Prize for his research.
Jon has appeared on NPR and the BBC, and his work has been featured in numerous news sources including The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, and the Guardian.
Dr. Kaufman received a Bachelors in physics at Carnegie Mellon University, and then went on to earn a Masters and Doctorate in physics at the University of California, San Diego studying Astrophysics and Cosmology.
Chief Technical Officer
Matt is a technology visionary with more than 15 years of proven leadership. Matt has been working in the crytpocurrency space since 2010 and has always been an enthusiastic evangelist of BlockChain technology. Matt and his team started ConstructionOnline.com with the Iredale Group in early 2000. The company was quickly acquired in early 2002 and Matt transitioned from construction to payment processing. Gateway Express was launched in 2002 and was acquired in 2004 by GlobalPayNet.
Matt and team started Bignition in 2005. Trader/Yellow Pages became an investor and partner in Bignition in 2010 with full acquisition by Trader in 2012. During building Bignition, Matt and team acquired a 10,000 sq ft tier-3 datacenter in Kamloops BC in 2011. After Bignition, the team went on to build Chatterfox. Chatterfox was acquired in 2017. As a co-founder and current chair of Kamloops Innovation (KIC), Matt has been instrumental in the growth of the Kamloops tech sector as a whole. Kamloops Innovation is a non-profit society that serves the Central Interior region of British Columbia.
Head of Delivery
Derek is a serial entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in business. His first successful acquisition was in the clothing industry where he exclusively produced game jersey’s and sports apparel for a nationally televised professional baseball league. Shortly after he had a successful run of importing novelty motorcycles but eventually ended up in the technology sector which is where he has been since 2005. During that time, he has started numerous successful technology ventures from the ground up.
Derek’s experience has been multifaceted and effective in conceptualizing software solutions, forging new technologies, hiring and leading development teams, creating sales processes, rolling out marketing strategies, creating brands, constructing high output sales teams, inventing highly effective training curriculum, assembling top performing service teams who adopt and implement his strategies, negotiating international licensing partnerships and multiple IP based acquisitions to both private and public sectors.
Head of Marketing & Communications
Dana is a senior international executive with a unique blend of experience that includes marketing, technology, strategic communications, nonprofit leadership, governmental policy, and political campaigns.
Dana has served and worked with government, business and organizational leaders at the highest levels, and on behalf of a broad range of clients including nonprofit organizations, Fortune 100 companies, and industry trade groups. Before joining 4th-IR, Dana co-founded and served as the chief executive of Trestle Group Foundation – a private, Swiss foundation dedicated to delivering economic opportunity and driving social change in emerging economies. A lifetime member of Net Impact, Dana earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The Ohio State University.
Lead Data Scientist
Dr. Vidmar is the Lead Data Scientist at 4th-IR, where he develops and deploys machine learning algorithms to tackle difficult challenges in a variety of contexts. David received a PhD in physics from the University of California, San Diego, where he studied heart rhythm disorders. Throughout his time at UCSD, David designed and implemented novel means of analyzing biomedical data, resulting in two pending patents. This work involved close collaboration with both scientists and practicing physicians, and was funded in part by the American Heart Association through a predoctoral fellowship. David’s work was recognized by a university-wide interdisciplinary research award.
David has been published in leading clinical journals as well as leading physics journals, highlighting his background and focus on interdisciplinary work. In addition to his technical work, he is passionate about effectively communicating complex ideas. During this time as a teaching assistant, he was chosen to design and implement the first set of video lectures using “Learning Glass” technology for a course taken by all science and engineering undergraduates.
Head of EMEA and AI in Finance
Peter is a senior international executive with more than 20 years of experience and expertise in strategic management, digital innovation, artificial intelligence, transformation, change, and risk management. Peter has held various leadership positions in global banking with UBS and the consulting companies KPMG and EY.
Peter has a Masters in Theoretical Physics from the University of Basel, a Masters degree in Computer Science and an MBA from the Edinburgh Business School. He also achieved PMP, MSP, MoP, and FRM professional designations.
Graphic & Animation Designer
Sara is a new team member at 4th-IR and focuses on graphic design, 3D visualization, and UI/UX design. She is passionate about Motion Graphics and 3D animation – working in Cinema 4D, Blender, Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro.
Born in Kotor, Montenegro, Sara has dedicated her whole life to creativity, and her greatest strengths are creative problem-solving and attention to detail. She is passionate, confident, friendly, and down to earth.
Outside of 4th-IR, Sara is passionate about medicine, biology, and ecology, and has won two international video competitions for her Young Reporters for Environment and Litter Less campaigns.
Front End Developer
Uros is a new team member at 4th-IR and focuses on web and web apps development. Uros has broad IT and IT outsourcing experience. His specialty is helping both small and big businesses deliver their ideas and products to customers.
Uros is an experienced Front-End and WordPress theme developer. He is also a cat-lover and travel enthusiast. So, if you meet him, feel free to show him all your pet pictures and suggest travel destinations.
Frank is a trusted adviser to 4th-IR, bringing over 35+ years of global leadership experience in process automation, information technology, supply chain, environmental health & safety, sustainability, purchasing, and customer service. A true innovator and entrepreneur, Frank is a Managing Partner at Trestle Group, a boutique consulting firm dedicated to making business better for leaders in the financial services sector.
Dave is a trusted partner and adviser. He has a proven record for building businesses and currently serves as the CEO of BYOD, LLC, which combines AI and IoT technologies to deliver virtual assistant services, the President/Owner of Facilities Management Consultants International and the President/Owner of DLR Development, a design-to-build solutions firm working extensively within the healthcare industry.
